Zzzzzz.... World Vision "30 Hour Famine Under No Roof 2006" The 30 Hour Famine Camp" is here again. This annual community education project is aimed at inspiring, educating and motivating young people into action on global issues such as Hunger, Poverty, HIV/AIDS and the environment. Since 1985, thousands of Singaporeans, both youths and adults, have participated each year in the famine camp. This year, the camp is co-organised with Habitat for Humanity, and is supported by the Health Promotion Board. It will be called "30 Hour Famine Under No Roof 2006" and will focus on children who live in extremely desperate circumstances such as the street children in Cambodia, Mongolia, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan, as well as some 14.2 million people affected by the severe food crisis happening now in countries like Kenya, Somalia and Tanzania. The theme will be "One World, One Life". During the event, campers will go without food for 30 hours but will be encouraged to drink lots of water. They will particpate in simualted activities, community work (eg collection of old newspaper), view educational videos and engage in discussions on vital issues confronting less developed countries. Donations received through the 30 hours fasting will be channelled to help the needy children through World Vision. The details are as follows: Date: 17 - 18 June 2006 (Saturday - Sunday) Venue: St Andrew's Junior College 55 Potong Pasir Avenue 1 Camp Fee: $20 per participant (College will subsidise $10 and student will need to pay just $10).
